I want to encourage you to start a very powerful habit. I believe this habit is beneficial for everyone in all walks of life, at any age. It is the habit of journaling. Yes, even for men. It’s not corny for men to journal. I have a very good guy friend who wakes up every morning, grabs his journal, a good book, and a few pens and highlighters. He spends the first part of his day praying, reading, and writing. I recommend doing this in the first part of your day as well because it sets the tone for the rest of your day. We never know what each day will bring. Fill your mind up with positive thoughts so that if negativity does come your way, you’re already equipped to deal with it.
Journaling is also therapeutic. You can say anything you want in your journal without feeling judged. Sometimes, our mind becomes overwhelmed with anxiety due to our negative thinking. Writing it all down and getting it out of our heads will help to calm our anxiety and fears. Another thing journaling is good for is writing down your dreams and goals. Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people die.” This isn’t talking about physical death. It’s spiritual death. Without your dreams, what’s the point of living, what are you living for? You might as well be dead. I read a quote that said, “Write your goals down, if they’re not written down, they’re just dreams. When you write things down, you set off a chain of events that will change your life.” One of the coolest things about journaling is when you’ve been doing it long enough to start looking back at journals you wrote years ago and you suddenly realize how many dreams you fulfilled, how you’ve changed, patterns in your life, and how God answered prayers. So, get to writing. Change your life!
