An Act of Kindness

Nicole loved sharing acts of kindness, no matter how small. One such act involved a man she encountered at the Metro station during her commute. He would sing with an unforgettable voice while humbly requesting food. Without hesitation, Nicole committed to a weekly tradition of giving him a sausage biscuit every Tuesday morning. For her, it was a way of saying, “I see you. You matter.”

What began as a simple gesture has blossomed into a meaningful yearly mission of remembrance. “Sausage Biscuit Tuesdays” is now more than just a meal—it’s a tribute to Nicole’s heart and to her dedication to uplifting others with compassion.

Turning Grief into Grace

After Nicole’s passing, her family reflected on this meaningful tradition and felt compelled to honor her legacy. Her kindness became an inspiration to transform their sorrow into service, ensuring her memory continued to positively impact others.

Each February, in honor of Nicole’s spirit, volunteers distribute sausage biscuits, hot coffee, and care packages to individuals experiencing homelessness throughout the North Carolina Piedmont Area. By sharing warmth and dignity through this initiative, Nicole continues to touch lives even in her absence.

“Giving out of your pain is the best healing of all.”

Victims with Voices

Victims with Voices

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
– Philippians 1:6

Three Pillars of Our Support to Victims

Victims with Voices is designed to empower individuals navigating trauma by offering resources to rebuild their lives. This initiative is focused on three key pillars:

  • Peer Support Groups
  • Substance Abuse 12-Step Groups
  • Financial Literacy Groups

These three components intertwine as lifelines for those in need, anchoring hope amidst despair.

Peer Support Groups

One of the cornerstones of Victims with Voices is fostering connection among people who have endured trauma. Victims find their voices rekindled in the presence of others who understand their journey. Peer Support Groups offer a safe harbor for participants to share their stories, gain strength through mutual understanding, break through feelings of isolation, and rediscover the strength to rise again.

Substance Abuse 12-Step Groups

Grief and trauma can intensify struggles with substance abuse, leaving many victims trapped in cycles of despair. Our 12-step recovery programs focus on healing, forgiveness, and accountability—providing participants with the tools to reclaim their lives and rise above their challenges.

Financial Literacy Groups

Financial insecurity can often add another layer of stress for survivors. Through hands-on workshops, we teach strategies for effective budgeting, rebuilding credit, and planning for a stable future, helping victims achieve lasting independence and confidence.

A Holistic Path to Healing

By addressing the emotional, physical, and financial challenges survivors face, Victims with Voices weaves a safety net of support around those who need it most. We believe healing happens when individuals are empowered to move forward with knowledge, support, and hope for their future.

Restoration is not a solitary endeavor but a collective effort grounded in empathy, action, and unwavering belief in the human spirit’s capacity to heal.
